The King’s Speech

March 3rd 2011 21:37
(2010) Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, Helena Bonham-Carter, Guy Pearce, Derek Jacobi. Dir: Tom Hopper.
Review No.261

Stammering Prince Albert receives treatment from an unusual speech therapist. Deserving of its many plaudits. Superb performances all round, with Firth doing fine work as someone with a deceptively simple disability that’s impacted his whole life. A revealing look at 20th Century history, it’s an absorbing and very appealing story.
