The Gold Rush
July 24th 2011 18:56
(1925) Charlie Chaplin, Georgia Hale, Mack Swain, Tom Murray, Henry Bergman. Dir: Charlie Chapman.
The tramp gets in trouble in the snowy hills, before falling for a young dancer. This lavishly produced recreation of the prospecting days has many of Chaplin’s best and most endearing gags, although once out of the cabin, the romantic sub-plot isn’t as funny. But there’s still a stunning climax to enjoy.
