The Bride of Frankenstein
April 7th 2011 22:14
(1935) Boris Karloff, Colin Clive, Ernest Thesiger, Dwight Frye, Elsa Lanchester. Dir: James Whale.
Frankenstein’s old mentor, insists they create a mate for the monster, who is still alive. A sequel that out does its original. The increased budget allows Whale to realise a grand, darkly comic world. Thesiger is deliciously evil and Karloff’s speaking scenes are delightful and heart-wrenching. A gothic masterpiece.
