Son of Frankenstein
April 18th 2011 18:49
(1939) Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Basil Rathbone, Lionel Atwill. Dir: Lionel V. Lee.
Frankenstein’s son returns to his homeland, where a broken-necked blacksmith has a surprise for him. Despite losing Whale, Son is very strong. Direction less inspired, but sets are excellent. New characters are the highlight: Lugosi is magnificent as Ygor. Atwill and Rathbone also superb. Shame Karloff doesn’t have good material.
