Murder, My Sweet
December 28th 2011 23:55
(1944) Dick Powell, Claire Trevor, Anne Shirley, Otto Kruger. Dir: Edward Dmytryk.
Marlowe must solve the case of a missing singer and the murder of man he was hired to protect. If Bogart’s the definitive Marlowe, Powell’s a worthy second; lighter but just as cynical. Less bleak than the novel, but brought to screen with style and well performed. A classic noir.
