A writer who follows people for research takes things further by becoming a burglar’s apprentice. Nolan’s first is effected by its low budget, inexperienced actors and implausible twists, but certainly impresses with its handheld noir aesthetic, taut pace and intriguing concept. Definitely of interest to fans of his later work.
