Considered a traitor by many of her subjects, Elizabeth ascends to the throne amidst turmoil between warring protestants and catholics. Excellent period drama, brilliantly realised with superb sets, atmosphere and cinematic flare. Blanchett and Rush are excellent and the script is exciting, intelligent and enthralling. A perfect blend.
