While Spain plots her downfall, Elizabeth becomes taken with adventurer Sir Walter Raleigh. The second Clive Owen swaggers on screen its clear there will be too much soap opera in this historical drama. Lacking the atmosphere and subtlety of the first, it’s not a disaster, but certainly inferior.
