Wanted

Wanted
In this action film James McAvoy stars as Wesley Gibson a guy who hates his predictable life and just wants to find himself. McAvoy shines through this movie and makes me want to see some of his earlier stuff I may have missed.

Timur Bekmambetov directed this visually stimulating, sound-provoking bullet-torquing film, his first american film. Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie are solid if yet unspectacular. Jolie's presence reminded me of her performance in 'Gone in 60 Seconds', being eye candy and keeping the male audience stimulated enough to buy her as a significant character.

This film is worth seeing I wasn't sure at first, the message is clear and at the end they love to beat you over the head with it. I felt that I got the real meaning as it went over the heads of my peers in the theatre. In my own words, don't go through life doing things you feel your supposed to, go get what you want and if you cannot reach it now, spend your life fighting to get it. You will not find yourself if you stop the search before you have found yourself.

Go see this movie, find yourself and be entertained with all the twists and turns and when you think the end is near it has only just begun.

The Love Guru

The Love Guru
In his first time out as the official director I believe. Marco Schnabel had solid cut sequences and great on-ice coverage for the hockey aspect of the movie but a side-bar that most will not notice is that defenceman Rob Blake of the LA Kings is taking the faceoff and any hockey fan knows that he is a longtime defenceman in which I have never seen take a faceoff before.

This movie was co-written by most notably Mike Myers and Graham Gordy. Gordy acted in the Love Guru and was last seen in 'My Dog Skip'. He also wrote in '07 War Eagle, Arkansas. Which I have yet to see.

Mike Myers, what can you say, one of Canada's favourite sons. He has blossomed into a comedic genius over time and is not shy in sharing his brand of humour as you can almost guess at if a joke came directly from Myers himself. Myers looks to finish up production on Shrek goes fourth slated just after 2010. So look out for new efforts and hey, maybe Love Guru 2.

This movie is your typical comedy as you get a great amount of laughs, though not a strong movie as few comedies are, this one keeps you warm and fuzzy exiting the theatre, hand and hand with your significant other. Good karma prevails, I was impressed with the hockey though. Cameos by a good number of stars offer laughter throughout the crowd on numerous occasions.
