Awake

Awake was written and directed by Joby Harold and starred most notably Hayden Christensen with Jessica Alba and Terrence Howard.

A fun fact for trivia fans, who had the co-starring actress role in the film originally?

...Kate Bosworth, who dropped out when she got the part in Superman Returns.

Opening sequence and I quote "Each year, over 21 million people receive general anesthesia." So that you won't remember or feel anything whilst anything is going on and after watching this movie, I mean anything. "30,000 of the people who receive it are not so fortunate," as they are unable to sleep and are thus 'Awake', "trapped in a phenomenon known as anesthetic awareness. These victims are completely parallyzed. They cannot scream for help."

Awake features a powerful opening scene set by the music most importantly. Followed by an intimate entrance with our two lead characters in (Clay)Christensen and (Sam)Alba. This movie shows the harsh reality of hospitals and doctors that make you figuratively sign your life away so that they can pretty much do with you what they will, when it comes to operations.

I recommend this movie as it takes you to a place of almost personal fear of even things like this happening to you. I have had a person close to me go through a similar type operation and remember certain facts and the movie rings true in some parts. Another good solid movie and great ending.

Next movie up will be, I am Legend, followed by Charlie Wilson's War.

Will the Coin Killer get you?

Inside Man

Directed by Spike Lee who has made another notable movie I like in "He Got Game." Lee has done countless movies in his time and is a well respected director among the elite in the industry.

This movie was written by Russell Gewirtz, starring most notably Denzel Washington and more importantly Clive Owen.

I am usually not a fan of cops and robbers type films anymore, as I have seen all of them done way to many times, but this one has some clever twists and angles I haven't seen before. That is all I ask, originality please. You can have flaws but you have a great ending, which this one was, you'll have a good response from the audience and ie. the reviewer.

I do not like reading the sites that contain spoilers and way to much information as I like to get the basics and watch it for myself. I am going to be doing this continually in hopes of getting a good response on my recommendations and keep you away from the ones that are a bit of a waste, I will watch them but that is just because I cannot stop myself as I try to find the good things in most movies.

The Log line for this movie goes as such -> It looked like the perfect bank robbery. But you can't judge a crime by its cover.

If you would like to watch a movie in which you won't know what happens next, this is your flick. It is such a good movie, that I have some info. Hot off the presses The sequel to Inside Man is slated to begin production in 2008 and be released come 2010. It is written by Russell Gewirtz once again and will be another Spike Lee film. No word on who will be starring in it

TCM presents 'that special movie place'

This site will be a labor of love as the film industry is a huge passion of mine. I am even starting to write my first full-length script. Top choice movies is a blog about my favorite movies and some to stay away from even though they might get some popular-acclaim.
I am an avid movie-goer and consumer. Some movies reviewed will be new releases in the theatre, others old favorites or recently released in stores.
So stay tuned as my first will be one of my favorites for 2006 "The Inside Man," starring Denzel Washington
